Hop Right On! It’s Time to Depart!

Greensboro, NC to New Albany, IN

Hello from the road!! We had a great time at the team building event as well as the Departure Dinner on Saturday! It was so much fun meeting each student as well as their families.

We began our journey early Sunday morning (6 am!) and hit the road for Kentucky! The bus ride was filled with conversations as everyone was meeting and getting to know each other.

 

Once we arrived at our first stop, Churchill Downs, we all hopped off the bus and were led by an amazing tour guide around the grounds. We also got to watch a horse race and all cheered on the horse ‘Very Satisfactory’ as the jockey and his horse crossed the finish line first! A fun and informative short film was displayed in the Churchill Downs museum on a 360 degrees surround screen theater, and we all explored the rest of the museum afterwards.

Afterwards, we headed back on the bus and made our way to New Albany, Indiana where we freshened up a little bit before dinner. We were welcomed by a fantastic staff at Joe Huber’s Family Farm and Restaurant and enjoyed an amazing family style meal and later enjoyed the farm area that the restaurant sat on! We are so excited for tomorrow as we venture on to St. Louis, Missouri and Lawrence, Kansas!!
